Lawrence Fishburne as Madiba

BET’s Madiba Airing Soon

Oscar-nominated actor Laurence Fishburne has some pretty big shoes to fill.

In honor of Black History Month, BET (Black Entertainment Television) has announced that they will be airing a three-part series called “Madiba”.

The series focuses on the life, movement, and death of South African activist Nelson Mandela drawing from his two autobiographies, ‘Nelson Mandela by Himself‘ and ‘Conversations with Myself‘.

Fishburne will be joined by Co-stars Terry Pheto, David Harewood, Michael Nyqvist and Orlando Jones.

In case you’re wondering where the name “Madiba” comes from, it was a clan name given to him through family tradition.

“Madiba” will air on February 1st, 8th and 15th, 2017.
