Jay-Z Flips TIDAL!
After smashing all the naysayers, Jay-Z can dust his shoulders off.
This week, he has collected a Phat check from cellular giant Sprint who has acquired a 33% stake in TIDAL Music’s streaming service worth about $200 million.
Over 45 million Sprint customers everywhere are now rejoicing because a part of the deal includes TIDAL to be made available to new and existing Sprint customers.
“Jay saw not only a business need, but a cultural one, and put his heart and grit into building TIDAL into a world-class music streaming platform that is unrivaled in quality and content,” Marcelo Claure, Sprint’s CEO, said to Billboard.
Jay won’t be far though because he will remain a Co-Partner in the company.
Originally, he purchased TIDAL from Swedish company Aspiro for $56 million.
Jay started out flippin’ in the streets, now he’s flippin’ it in the board room.
