The Tulsa Verdict Is In:
First Degree Manslaughter!
Thursday, the verdict came in for Tulsa, Oklahoma police officer Betty Shelby who fatally shot Terence Crutcher, an unarmed African American man whose SUV stopped in the middle of the highway last week.
She is now being charged with First Degree Manslaughter which carries a sentence of four years to life.
The shooting, captured on video, sparked anger, yet peaceful protests in Oklahoma.
Shelby claims that Crutcher reached into his SUV window, however, his windows were not down. What’s even more interesting is that an unidentified helicopter pilot profiled Crutcher stating that a “black dude” was dangerous and “needed to be tasered”.
Shelby states that she did not overhear the pilots on her radio.
Though the video paints a different picture from her account, the video mimics the same narrative – the unjust shooting of yet another black man.
