Title: W.B.N.A Players
Fined For Wearing Black Warmup Uniforms!
Three W.N.B.A teams found themselves in hot water after what they thought was exhibiting a stance against police brutality – incorporating black shirts into their warmup uniform.
Women from the Indiana Fever, New York Liberty and Phoenix Mercury entered the basketball court with black t-shirts (with just an Adidas logo) and black Adidas pants. Instead of receiving praises, each team was collectively slapped with a $5000 fine plus each player was fined individually $500 for not complying with W.N.B.A’s standard uniform policy.
“It’s unfortunate that the W.N.B.A has fined us and not supported its players,” Liberty guard Tanisha Wright said. “We feel America has a problem with the police brutality with black lives around here, and we just want to use our voices and use our platform to advocate for that.”
Do you agree with the fine or should the W.N.B.A support the players’ stance?
