“I don’t do #ChurchPeople…

When we originally heard about Kelly Price singing her smash rendition of Shirley Murdock’s “As We Lay” at a gospel event, many of us had all types of theories ranging from her doing it on purpose to gain press, to her not getting the memo that she was set to perform at a gospel event. Either way, she was extremely upset and embarrassed and took to Twitter to vent her frustrations. “I don’t do #ChurchPeople #Phony the same lady that hugged me and said thank you for coming was the one who clowned me when I got off stage.

Many people bashed her for her song choice, but we all later found out that it wasn’t actually her fault. Due to a last minute change in the schedule, Price’s time slot wound up being closer to the Gospel Explosion. So, when she took the stage and dropped that first line, “It’s moooorrrning, as we slept the night away” it created an extremely awkward moment.
