Jay-Z Addresses Police Brutality

…Behind The Mic!

With all the turmoil that America experienced last week after the shooting deaths of Philando Castile & Alton Sterling, it’s easy for people to feel a sense of hopelessness. Not many mainstream Hip-Hop artists use their platform to address social issues – but Jay Z is an exception. On July 7th, he released a new song entitled, “Spiritual” on Tidal. The bass-heavy production accompanied by authoritative lyrics was actually written roughly a year ago, but it remained incomplete.  After the recent shooting deaths of Castile and Sterling by officers, he was prompted to bring the song to its completion.

I’m saddened and disappointed in THIS America – we should be further along. WE ARE NOT,” he wrote in his open letter.

A lot of people share the same view as Jay – they’re sick and tired of being sick and tired. Now, it’s time for action.
